Discover the benefits of live-in care

Benefits of live in care

As we journey through life, there may come a time when we need a little extra support to maintain our independence and well-being. At Consultus Care and Nursing, we understand the importance of staying in the comfort and familiarity of your own home, surrounded by cherished memories and treasured possessions. Live-in care offers a highly personalised solution, allowing you or your loved one to live well at home, avoiding a move into a care home.  Here we explain the many benefits of live in care.

Comfort and familiarity

There's no place like home. With live-in care, you can remain in the environment you know and love, surrounded by everything that is so important to you, including remaining connected to your community. This familiarity can be incredibly comforting, especially for those living with conditions, such as dementia.

One-to-one care

Live-in care provides one-to-one support tailored to your individual needs. Our dedicated carers are by your side to assist with daily activities, support medical needs, and provide companionship, ensuring you receive the highest possible quality of care. This individualised approach allows for ultimate flexibility to your unique needs, preferences and routines.

Independence and dignity

Maitaining independence is a core aspect of live-in care. Our carers are there to enrich and support your daily life, helping with tasks you find difficult, whilst encouraging you to continue doing the things you love in life. This balance means you can be as independent as possible, with all the support you need.

Much-needed companionship

Loneliness is a significant concern for many older adults. A report from the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine (NASEM) points out that nearly a quarter of adults aged 65 and older are considered to be socially isolated. Furthermore, more than a million older people say they go over a month without speaking to a friend, neighbour or family member according to Age UK.

With live-in care, you have a trusted companion by your side. Our carers offer not just physical and practical support, but also heartfelt companionship - sharing conversations, engaging in activities, and experiencing moments of warmth together. We place great emphasis on ensuring we match clients to carers with similar interests, to ensure a meaningful connection is made.

Peace of mind

For family members, knowing that a loved one is receiving 24h care at home and support provides a much-needed. Consultus offers a fully managed live-in care service which is regulated by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).  This means that our service is regularly inspected to ensure the highest standards of care. Quality of care is at the forefront of all we do.

Continuity of care

Live in care ensures continuity of care. You build a relationship with a consistent team of carers who understand your needs, routines, and preferences, creating a deeper sense of trust and security. This is particularly important for those receiving dementia care.

Flexible and adaptable

Care needs will often evolve over time. In a residential care home, if your needs change you are likely to experience the upheaval of moving floors to get the care you need.  Instead, live-in care offers the flexibility to adapt to these changes seamlessly, with minimal disruption. Our carers are there to adjust and provide the care you need.

Keep connected to your friends and community

Staying at home allows you to maintain your connection with your local neighbourhood and community, and maintain friendships and maintain hobbies. This ensures you continue to have an enriched life around the people you love, improving overall well-being. Research from the Live-In Care Hub’s Better At Home Report shows that individuals often experience better overall well-being at home compared to residential care settings.

What our clients say

"Consultus Care allowed us to keep our Mum at home following a fall and a hip break. This meant that she had a really good quality of life; her friends could visit her easily. It made a huge difference to her to be in her own surroundings.
The quality of care was excellent throughout."

Cost effective care option

Live-in care is often more cost-effective than residential care, especially for couples who wish to stay together and for those needing care to support a complex condition. If you move into a care home you are likely to need to sell your home.  With live-in care you can keep your home and preserve any inheritance for your family.  There are many other financial products, for example equity release or care fees annuities that enable you to fund live-in care.

Couples stay together

Live-in care allows couples and partners to continue living together in the comfort of their own home.  In a care home you will be separated to get the care you each individually need. Live-in care for couples is more cost effective when compared to receiving care in a care home, where two separate rooms will be needed. With live-in care you both receive the personalised care you need from the same carer.
