What is a live-in care job?

A live-in carer provides around-the-clock support to individuals who need assistance to continue living independently in their own homes. Unlike visiting carers, live-in carers reside in the client’s home, offering daily help with personal care, household tasks, meal preparation, and helping to support conditions that can impact daily life. This type of care allows clients to continue to live in an environment that is familiar and comforting, whilst benefiting from dedicated, one-on-one care.

Live-in carers not only provide help with the tasks of daily life, but also contribute emotional support and companionship, building meaningful relationships with clients over time. They work closely with families and healthcare teams, ensuring consistent and personalised care is provided, tailored to each client’s unique needs.

A client is typically supported by a team of two carers who alternate shifts, each taking turns to live with them, whilst the other carer takes time to rest and recharge.

Reasons to choose a live-in care job

Provide personalised one-to-one care

At the heart of live-in care is the unique bond between you and your client. By focusing on one-to-one care, you’ll build meaningful relationships based on trust, understanding, and genuine connection. This allows you to focus on providing not just exceptional care, but also on meaningful moments that you can enjoy together.

Enrich lives, including your own

Helping clients to stay safely and happily in the comfort of their own homes means you’ll see the difference your care makes every moment, every day.  Enjoy the fulfilment of enabling independence and improving quality of life – not just your client’s but yours too.

No two days are ever the same

We know through our years of experience that a key reason for our team’s job satisfaction is the variety of the day-to-day. From chatting over a cup of tea or coffee, to enjoying new activities with your clients, or taking them out for a day trip, no two days working in live-in care are quite the same.

The smarter career choice

As the population of older people is increasing, the demand for live-in care is growing, resulting in the need for more highly trained and skilled care professionals.  This makes live-in care a sustainable career choice.

Live-in care also offer competitive rates of pay, and many other benefits, including training and career development. Plus, you’ll work in a rewarding environment where your contribution is highly valued by clients, their families, and by us.

Stay connected to what matters to you

Live-in care roles offer flexibility in how you work, ensuring the work-life balance you need to maintain your own connections with what is important to you – whether it’s friends, family or passions outside of work.
